Crimson Room

The Concept

Crimson Room is a demo editorial, made with AI, for a long black leather trench coat, double-breasted, with a belt and epaulettes. The model, with wavy copper hair and gold drop earrings, moves through a seventies-style room: deep red walls, wood panelling, burgundy carpet, a red velvet armchair and brass floor lamps with white shades. The series alternates full-length shots, half-length shots and close portraits, and ends on a detail of her hands tightening the belt buckle.

Applications

This is the kind of shoot that launches a statement outerwear piece on social and in the lookbook. The full-length shots show the real length of the trench and how it falls to the ankles; the half-length shots show lapels, epaulettes and buttoning; the buckle detail shows the quality of the leather up close. The feel is cinematic, like a magazine story, and the red background makes the black of the coat stand out even as a small thumbnail in the feed. Same face and same room in every image: the shots can be posted one at a time or together in a carousel without looking like they came from different sets. No set to build and no room to rent: the room exists only in the images.

Technical Workflow

The garment. The most delicate part was the leather: soft highlights where it catches the light, believable folds at the elbows and waist, seams and buttons always in place. The trench stays identical in every shot, from full length to the buckle detail. The model. The same face returns across the whole series, with the same copper hair and the same earrings, even as pose, distance and angle change: leaning against the panelling, seated in the armchair, walking towards the camera. The room. The set was built to measure: wood panelling, deep red walls, burgundy carpet and velvet, a low wooden sideboard and seventies floor lamps. The colours of the room stay within reds and wood tones, so the black leather is always the strongest point of the image. The red velvet armchair and the brass lamps return across several shots and act as a thread from one image to the next. The light. It is warm and seems to come from the lamps in the scene, with soft shadows on the face and controlled highlights on the leather, like a real interior photo shoot. No cold studio light: the whole series stays at the same warm temperature, from the first portrait to the final detail.
