Sicilian Streetwear

The Concept

An AI-generated shoot of hats and accessories for a streetwear brand, staged in Sicily's narrow stone backstreets. The piece on show is the winter collection's chunky knit beanie: heavy yarn, tight ribbing at the cuff, a slouchy back that sits over the nape, and a small round patch just above the ribbed edge. The contrast is never announced, it's built out of whatever's in the frame: ochre walls, terracotta pots of red geraniums, a lemon tree heavy with fruit, pale flagstones. Three colourways run through the set, black, teal and burgundy, with the patch tonal on the black, orange on the teal and navy on the burgundy: teal is worn out in the backstreet, black and burgundy in a brick-columned courtyard with potted ferns and a terracotta urn. Each colourway comes back three times, two worn shots on men and women plus a packshot against a plain neutral background, with the contact shadow left under the ribbed edge. Framing runs from a tight portrait, where the beanie fills the top third of the square frame, to a seated half-length pose and a walking shot cropped at mid-thigh. The light stays warm and diffused in the backstreet as in the courtyard, with no hard shadows.

Applications

A knit beanie laid flat or on a stand tells you nothing about how it falls: fit only reads when it's worn, and how big it looks changes with the way it settles on the head. The packshot is what carries the product page and the catalogue grid, a clean even background, nothing competing for attention, and the contact shadow left in so the hat doesn't look pasted on. The worn shots answer the rest, how snugly the beanie sits and how it works with a blazer or a hoodie. Across a row of colour swatches, identical framing and light on black, teal and burgundy let the eye read a change of colour rather than three separate shoots. Square sits natively in the feed and the e-commerce grid; a 9:16 vertical crops into a figure that already fills the frame width, so the walking shot needs extending at the bottom.

Technical Workflow

The custom brand details, the lettering and the round logo patch, sit in the fabric rather than on top of it, and shots and light are kept natural: soft warm daylight, none of the digital artefacts that give a render away. The series was built with Midjourney v6, Flux.1 and Photoshop. In AI-generated imagery knit is usually the weak point: a raised stitch drifts easily into irregular, misaligned texture, ribs that fail to line up and an edge that loses its run, which on a chunky knit is the first thing the eye lands on. Colour temperature holds across the three colourways, so black, teal and burgundy read as one series rather than three. The packshot sits on a plain neutral background. No physical set, no location, no live models: standard delivery runs 5-10 working days, with a full commercial licence for e-commerce, social, print, lookbooks and ad campaigns.
